Driving lessons and car insurance Australia teenagers may find usefulLearning to drive is one of the things that young adults look forward to most and it is important to choose a sympathetic instructor if they are to get off to a good start. The wrong person can make nervous learners give up before they have even started so it is worth taking the time to talk to prospective instructors before booking lessons for your son or daughter. Once they have passed their test they will inevitably want their own car, or at the very least the use of yours. To make this possible you will need to look into the costs of insuring them first, which may come as a shock to some people. Many insurers charge exorbitant premiums for newly qualified drivers but it is possible to lower the cost by adding them as a named driver to your existing policy. Before all this needs to be done, there is the test to get through first of course. Young drivers are apt to be very apprehensive when taking the test for the first time so anything that you can do to put them at their ease on the day will definitely be a great help. Many teenagers like to keep the test date a secret just in case they fail, which is perfectly understandable. Whilst learning with an instructor they will be covered by the driving school's insurance but once they have their own vehicle they will have to take responsibility for paying the premiums themselves. For teenage car insurance Australia insurers may charge a high amount at first but this should quickly come down as they gain experience, as long as they avoid making any claims. Driving schools that claim to be able to teach a novice to a standard good enough to pass the test in a couple of weeks are best avoided unless the pupil in question has had a fair amount of experience behind the wheel on private land before taking to the road. It is much better to take things slowly and get them right first time than to fail at the first attempt as this can knock a young person's confidence. A comprehensive policy is often prohibitively expensive for new drivers but if you can find an affordable one then it will give them more confidence on the road as they will know that if the worst comes to the worst then they will not be out of pocket. Teenagers do not often have much spare cash lying around so many parents decide to treat their children to driving lessons as a birthday present when they reach the appropriate age. Although you may like to do this as a surprise, it could be wiser to let them have a say in which instructor they wish to learn with, for the reasons mentioned above. A confident, capable new driver will be less likely to crash and therefore be able to take advantage later on of the no claims bonuses that many firms offer.
