Essex Young Drivers Scheme

One of our Instructors is now part of a group of Driving Instructors who teach under 17s to drive once a month at the YDS (Young Drivers Scheme). It is run in partnership with the IAM, Essex Police and DICE (Driving Instructors Club Essex).

The scheme was started several years ago to help young people develop their car control before they move out onto public roads to start their driving lessons. It is run on a closed industrial estate, and therefore is as close to driving on public roads as you can get. There is space to practice different types of turns, emergency stops and even reversing exercises.
