A Bit About Romford, And The Nearby Test Centres

Just in case you don’t know the area that well, here’s a bit about a few of the theory/driving test centres and some of the roads you might encounter. If you are looking to take get your full driving licence, you will need to pass the theory test before taking the driving test. There aren’t many nearby, with Ilford being the only one within 5 miles. Outside of this area, you would have to look at places such as Sidcup or Basildon. Once you’ve passed the theory and hazard perception test, you will need to look for a driving test centre. Luckily, there’s a few more to choose from. You’ve got Hornchurch and Goodmayes within 5 miles and a little further away is Brentwood.

Your Driving Instructor will be able to give you more information on all these centres, or if you would like some more details now, check out the ‘Find Your Nearest‘ feature on the Department Of Transport website.

Each test centre has over 20 possible routes for you to drive on, allowing you to show the examiner you skills over various types of roads and traffic conditions. For example if you take your test in Brentwood, you might expect to drive on Brook Street roundabout, Wilsons Corner or down the A12. Whereas Goodmayes may involve several dual carriageways and some roundabouts near Ilford.
